Needlestick injuries

This article outlines current NAPPSI initiatives to reduce sharps injuries, in compliance with OSHA regulations issued after passage of the Needlestick Safety and Prevention Act of 2000.

NAPPSI initiatives include: the dissemination of a Clinicians Advisory on Sharps Injury Prevention; the creation of a comprehensive Needlestick Safety Device List posted on the NAPPSI website (www.nappsi.org); and the PAIRSS campaign (Protecting America’s Interns and Residents from Suture Needlesticks).
